Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what personal data Letteringo collects when you use the app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights. Letteringo is a mobile app offering an anonymous letter-writing experience.

1. Data We Collect

Account information

  • Email address — for account creation, sign-in, and recovery.
  • Display name — represents you in the app.
  • Account ID — a unique identifier generated by our system.
  • Third-party sign-in identifiers — user IDs returned by Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In when used.

Profile information (optional)

  • Profile photo
  • Bio text
  • Interests
  • Location / mood note

Letter content

  • The text of letters you write, your signature, your P.S.
  • Photos you attach
  • Voice messages (vinyl) you attach
  • Preferences such as the stamp affixed and paper style chosen

Purchase and subscription data

  • Subscription status (managed via RevenueCat, integrated with the Apple App Store)
  • Purchase history (product, date) — we do not process payments; payments are handled by Apple.

Technical data

  • Device identifiers (such as the Firebase Installation ID needed for push notifications)
  • App preferences (language, theme)

Letteringo does not use any third-party SDK for user tracking. We do not display ads, and we do not sell data to ad networks.

2. Why We Collect Data

  • To create your account and maintain your session
  • To deliver letters you send and letters addressed to you
  • To display your profile and let you edit it
  • To manage your subscription
  • To send notifications (when you receive a new letter)
  • To prevent abuse, harassment, and illegal content
  • To comply with legal obligations

3. Third Parties

The following services process portions of your data to keep the app running. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Apple App Store / Apple Sign-In — authentication, payments.
  • Google Sign-In — authentication (when used).
  • Firebase (Google) — authentication infrastructure, push notification delivery.
  • RevenueCat — subscription state management.
  • Google ML Kit — language detection and letter translation (runs on-device; no data is sent to external servers).

We do not sell data to any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal account data is removed from our systems within a reasonable period. Some data may be retained longer due to legal obligations or ongoing legal proceedings.

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw permissions (you can revoke microphone, photo, and notification access from device settings)

6. Children's Privacy

Letteringo is not intended for children under 13. If we become aware that a user under 13 has provided data, we will delete the account and remove the related data.

7. Policy Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email. The effective date is always shown at the top of this page.
